2009 Beijing First International Polo Open Tournament
The Gentlest Sport and Most Romantic Game
On the days of October 5th~6th of 2009, at the beautiful Beijing Sunny Times Holiday Manor which located in Yanqing, Xiadu of Beijing, with the background of blue sky and green grass, there were a group of gentlemen who were riding on their horses and swinging their mallets on chasing for a small white polo ball. Around the polo field, there were flying banners and flags as well as serried polo marquee. In the distance, hills had embraced the manor and white clouds were kissing the manor. 2009 Beijing First International Polo Open Tournament was jointly sponsored by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports and People’s Government of Yanqing County, during this tournament, players of four teams from Australia, Brazil, New Zealand and China had experience four fierce competitions for two days. Finally, the Brazilian team won the Championship Cup, which is considered as the highest honor of Chinese Polo, with a victory score 5 to 0 over New Zealand team.
2009 Beijing First International Polo Open Tournament is not only the first international polo tournament sponsored by the government in China, but also is another excellent sports event that made by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports with great efforts, which is following the Beijing International Marathon Tournament, China Open Tennis Tournament, and World Open Snooker Tournament in China.
Leaders from Beijing Municipal Government, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, and People’s Government of Yangqing Country had presented and watched the match. The prince representative of the United Arab Emirates His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Naser Al Soud and the princess of Jordan also presented as a VIP to watch this tournament.
Internationally, Polo tournament is always recognized as the high-end sports tournament, especially a top business platform for the high-end crowd and successful personages. This tournament place is decided to be held at the polo field of Beijing Sunny Times Polo Club that located in Yanqing, the reason is not only because Yanqing has the most beautiful geographic characteristics, such as rounding green mountains, wetland and lakes, and fresh air, but also its comfortable and idyllic climate, leafy vegetation, and the honor of the most beauteous back garden of Being. Added that there are many tourist resources here, such as Badaling Great Wall and Longqing gorge, which allow Yanqing gain the unique and advantaged conditions to hold large international polo tournaments here. Yanqing will also become the hometown of polo in China in the future. In addition, China’s first polo club, Beijing Sunny Times Polo Club was established here. Since 2005, this club has continuously held five International Polo Invitation Tournaments. Nearly one hundred polo top players from Argentina, Chile, Brazil, America, Australia, as well as many other countries had came to Beijing and paticipated in the tournaments.
We will have 2010 the second Beijing International Polo Open Tournament this year.
