I'm wondering if there is such a thing as gaining a school or further education certification in Polo? if the question has been asked before and somebody knows the answer i would be grateful.

I have an international School in Saudi interested in offering Polo as an extra curriculum activity for those taking GCSE Physical Education. Anyone who has connections with the governing bodies for examinations, particularly in the UK, id be interested to hear from them.

thanks

I know that if you take full course PE for GCSE you can take Equestrian as your sport which polo would fall under.
If the GCSE examination boards are AQA then I'm pretty sure it'll help contribute to the overall GCSE mark. However because it's after school activities and not part of the national curriculum (compulsory) I don't think a polo GCSE is possible at the moment. But if the student does reecieve a PE GCSE and polo has been one of the sports they have studied and because of it they have managed to reach their minium expected grade, then I'm sure it is possible that they can use that as a certificate of polo.

You could try contacting the Edexcel/AQA/CIE examination boards (Depending on which one the school is taking)

hiya, thanks alot for the informative reply. I did some research and discovered that equestrian can be taken as an extra curriculum activity to the PE - where there is some criteria for coursework, improvements, so clearly it doesnt exist as such for Polo. Im not sure of the exam boards, but the head of PE for the school is interested in offering this. Please do let me know if there are other schools out there considering certification in the sport.
