I've heard great things about polo in S. Africa. Where are the best polo clubs, places to stay, restaurants, etc.? Any information or advice would be appreciated.

My son stayed with Buster
Mc Kenzie - said it was excellent -even better than Argentina.

Hi GB - are you planning a trip to SA? That may be the excuse I need :)

The list is huge.... what level, what requirements, etc etc?

First off, what time of year - there are 2 seasons, winter in the north, summer in the Cape.

Hi Bruce. You've been there I take it? ;-) I'm just trying to get a basic handle on it at this point. The Cape has always fascinated me. What would you recommend for a first trip?

the Cape is fantastic, GB! I've never played in Plettenberg Bay, which is where Sallie is talking about, but I believe it makes a lot of sense (I, however, have never been very sensible).

In Cape Town there're 2 clubs, I'll share contacts/details with you privately - there are big plusses to either, depending on what you're looking for.

Ideal trip - start in Cape Town and drive up the East Coast to Plett. Ideal time of the year -  probably Jan-march, in my personal opinion.

Sounds great!

Stonefield polo is the place to go, for more info please contact me by private message

Thanks Alex. It sounds great, and I'll definitely follow up privately for more details. In the meantime, here's a link for Stonefield in the Plettenberg Bay area, and it looks great!

I have been to SA twice to play polo, in 2009 and two weeks ago.  I have been to both Capte Town clubs (Ostrich Farm and Val de View) and in Plettenberg. PM for more details and specific questions etc. including accomodation options etc.

Thanks Tomasz!

GB Storme Desvaux de Marigny is a great player, and he had played in Europe and in SA as well, if you want I have all his data at home, I can write you later on, and send to you phones and mails, best wishes and Happy Easter, always your friend Luis

Thanks, Luis.

All the best, and Happy Easter to you too.

Abrazo,

GB
