Your fantasy kit bag would be...?
I'm working with a British company to design the best kit bag possible for polo.
So far we have a separate zippable section for boots, and the whole lining pops out for washing (with whites, team shirts and gloves). Space for hat and face guard if used, knee pads. What else would you demand from your ideal bag? Zip pocket for wallet, keys and goggles?
Are Villamil and La Martina really the only big guys out there making these? (At the moment I just shove my stuff in a sports holdall and it festers in the boot of the car until I remember where it is ... and so end up with not so white, and slightly smelly whites- perhaps this is why they chose me to work with them?)
As a bit of background- this company make there bags from tweed and leather ... not for posing values (certainly not as brash as La Martina) but because of the history of lasting lifelong and improving with age. I really like the aesthetics of it but the durable function with the history is really what gets me excited- because in my five years of playing here in Scotland I haven't come across anything that really works- and that you could be proud of.
What do you think? Would really appreciate any input and thoughts.

firstly is tweed really a good idea for this product? after all it can only be dry cleaned... a problem when the item will be dragged in and out of the yards, car etc. i think the consept of the idea is fab but at the same time the design sounds although it is very large. have you possibly considered finding ways of compacting the bag down more. think about the shapes more "see which components will fit in where idea!" i think leather is a far better textile to use. not to menion the easy cleaning of it, and many ways of manipulating it these days.
hoope this has helped to give you a few ideas hope i havnt sounded although i am critorsizing the product as i am merly trying to offer constructive critorsism. any more ideas id love to think about as i am semi within the industry of design and production

I'm not sure if you are still wanting feedback about your bag but...
Like you my gear currently lives in the boot of my car all thrown into one old sports bag. I would not really want a tweed bag as my bag often gets thrown on wet grass or it starts raining whilst i'm playing and i come back to a sopping bag - would tweed be able to resist the rain as well as i imagine treated leather would. I seem to end up with all sorts in my bag and so it would be good to have some pockets - my bag currently contains two pairs whites, two or three shirts, socks, deodorant, wipes, gloves, sports bra, hairbrush, camera, water bottles, polo mints (for the horses!).
A large light weight, shower proof bag with different size pockets on the outside would be fantastic
I hope this helps - although your post was a while ago and your bag is probably designed by now!

After a few chukkers you usually have a damp shirt and gloves. If there were a netted pocked on the outside (like some gym bags have), it would help prevent mildew on the clothing and bad smells in the bag. Also, I really like the super high quality zippers that are found on Kipling bags. My La Martina bag has inferior zippers.
