Hello PCW friends,

I thought of this idea on another discussion here in the business forum, and don't know whether it exists already.
What are people's thoughts, ideas, feedback, etc..on the Polo Industry having a Yearly International Polo Conference?
All / many businesses and industries do this, but I am not sure if the sports industry does and this would be a great opportunity to campaign polo globally.

Usually conferences are run over 3 or 4 days, and could include instructors, coaches, players of all levels from all over the world to speak and present ideas, outcomes, research, experiences, innovations, etc... and could incorporate an expo, displays (dvd's, books, equipment, club info, health, fitness, therapies, sports psychology, etc...), special events (arena and / or field), demonstrations, workshops, clinics.
Usually conferences have evening dinners to socialise, network, kick up the heals, must do this.

Each year a different city is chosen to host for the conference and over time circulates around the world, which in turn advertises the sport of polo and increases growth, development, and interests for existing and new people to become involved in polo.
A yearly International Polo Conference could also be a strength to get Polo in the Olympics.
How would this develop??? Form a Committee???

I think its a great idea. We did these conferences in the Tourism / Hotel industry, yearly (many) all over the world. Some people came to exhibit, others to lecture and most to participate. The conferences were educational, inspiring, economically beneficial, and fun. Please sign me up.
Thanks Claudia, anyone out there have some comments or ideas about this too?
Would love to hear them, cheers:)
great idea
networking helps everyone to succeed and grow in whatever their dreams!
I think it's a great idea and yes they do have such conferences in other disciplines. The Global Dressage Forum is run each year as a debating platform for international dressage. The conference has been held for eight consecutive years now and is widely considered a success. All the top trainers, riders, Judges, breeders, etc get together to discuss training techniques or judging methods for example. It's a chance for people to air their views and get some feedback.

I am more than happy to help in anyway I can.
Great idea Gabby. Why not use this event in London on 24th Feb 2011 to kick it off .wwwtheo2polo.com !!
For a model, there is now and for the past 3 years has been a Lawyers Polo  Association which meets in tandum with the International Bar Association annual meetings.  The next one is in Dubai in 2012.  It is possible one could model something for the business community in paralell with the annual FIPA meetings.
