I am a veterinarian and practice equine sports medicine. I have created a new board specialty in vet medicine- The American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in order to create educational programs for colleagues and veterinary students and horsemen. My own background includes having completed the postdoctoral education in human medicine and then conducting research to transfer protocols to horses. In a word- it works. We are able to help horsemen by working proactively in injury prevention and performance optimization.

My question is- how might I create internship opportunities for veterinary students to be placed with polo stables so that they can gain knowledge of the demands of the sport, and experience in delivering these helpful methods to polo horses? We are designing a center now to become the first equine wellness sports medicine center for horses near saratoga NY. It will be the main center for education and research.

Any ideas anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. We also need help fundraising .
