The photo "Marathon" taken by Holger Schupp a photographer from Aachen was voted best international equestrian sport photo 2007/2008. Schupp was distinguished with the "Silver Camera" for his contribution at the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen 2008. The prestigious media prize is awarded jointly by the Sparkasse Aachen, the Rheinische Sparkassen & Giroverband and the CHIO organisers, the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV).
Dr. Jochen Bräutigam, Chairman of the Sparkasse Aachen, and Hans Kauhsen, Supervisory Board member of the ALRV, presented Holger Schupp with the silver trophy and the winning cheque for 2,500 Euros in front of tens of thousands of spectators in the CHIO Main Stadium. Second place and prize-money to the value of 1000 Euros went to Nicole Bökhaus from Winterthur (Switzerland) for her photo "Snow Action", Helge Prang from Ludwigsburg (photo without title/500 Euros) came third.
Overall photographers from ten countries submitted 77 photos for entry into the competition for the best international equestrian sport photo. So, the panel of judges took quite a long time to choose the winners: This year Walter Franzen from the Sparkasse Aachen, Vaulting World Champion Kai Vorberg, Christoph Pauli Sports Director of the Zeitungsverlag Aachen, the photographer Michael Strauch and CHIO Show Director Frank Kemperman were quite literally spoilt for choice.
