Of course, Marie! I can promiseat least each July we'll get the chance to meet up at Guards. I live in London, I can give you my mobile, if you want and get together one day. Best, andy
Hi marie, thanks for added me as friend. I've seen in your profile, your husband is a member of Guards Polo, Windsor, we go every year, for the Cartier Cup, and I'm in contact with them via facebook, so we've already got something in common, hehe, anyway, nice seeing your work, keep in touch, xxx kind regards, andy
There was one I longed to get into and they liked my work... but discovered their commission fees were 50%. Nice to be displayed alongside some really top names, but not at that price! I guess though you just have to take the rough with the smooth in this business. Had a good day on Saturday actually at a local point to point. Sold 3 originals and secured several commissions too. That's when it makes the job worth doing.
Personally I'm not a big fan of galleries (apart from the more prestigious ones which I still aspire to!) as you are giving away a large chunk of profit in fees. Same goes for exhibitions (like SEA - so expensive getting stuff there and back for such a short time, and with little guarantee of sales. Am not doing it this year!). I'd rather cut out the middleman and deal with clients on a one-to-one personal level. The other thing is, about half of my work is in the form of commissions, so meeting people at shows and having time to chat is vital for that. Anyway, I love the business side of being an artist! Just a shame I actually have to paint as well!
As far as exhibiting goes I do quite a variety. Locally, I exhibit regularly at most of the hunt events and point to points as well as at my local polo club who were kind enough to invite me to hang a few pictures in their marquee last year. Then I take a stand at several medium size equestrian and agricultural shows within striking distance of home, and also do the bigger ones further afield like the CLA gamefair, Midlands Gamefair etc, and some over the past few years with my agent as far afield as Scotland. I also have stuff in one or two galleries and my own little space at a local garden centre! So basically I exhibit where-ever and whenever I can! On average I do around 10 or 15 shows a year. Hard work!
Hi Marie - how lovely to find a fellow SEA member on here! I absolutely love your work. One of these days I keep meaning to have a go at sculpture if I can find a workshop... complete mystery to me how you do it!
thank you Marie!!! what a compliment coming from such talented artist like you.
we are still working on improving some little things, and also about to create a section like multimedia, but for artistic photography related to horses, with a nice photo player. I think it will be nice. so whenever you have more material, let me know so we can update your section...
Allen Brown I look up to the sky now the world is mine. I made it. Did it my way on my terms I don't do it for money or fame. I do it all for the love.
