Well done rain meditators!!!

Well it seems that the meditation and the rain dances worked! Even if you didnt all have a go, some of us certainly did, because after 8 months of drought, but after only two days of meditation, we were rewarded with a fabulous un-predicted storm last night here in Pilar, followed by a decent rain fall which continues as I write. This demonstrates to the cynics here that the power of collective thought truly brings physical changes! Well Done to the rainwishers!

Let's organise a massive rain dance!

Dear friends,



while the season ends in the UK, those of us that live/play/work/travel in/to Argentina are now looking forward to the Argentine season. Yesterday was the first official day of spring, but sadly the flowers are having a very tough time blooming and generally making the place look like it is in fact "springtime".

History

I started playing polo when i was about 12 years old. My dad was playing in Singapore when we lived there and started the first official dutch polo club in Wassenaar, together with his brother and some friends.

Now there are four clubs throughout the country and we have 9 fields in total. Mostly we play 8 and 12 goal tournaments that are very competitive and a lot of fun to play.

Polo 4 Peace

Sunday September 21st was declared by unanimous vote at the United Nations in 2001 as PEACE DAY. I only recently became aware of this fact after receiving the following 2 minute video link from J:

Playing in Singapore

Finally stopped raining and we have started to play. We hosted the Aussie Rules football at the weekend which was a great event but churned up the field pretty well.

Singapore just has one field, which is I understand the most played on field in the world - whether this is because it has been in place for so long, or gets played on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday for pretty much 50 weeks a year - I don't know.

Anyway it's a lovely club.

Horses arrived but still raining

Finally horses have arrived in Singapore, this is an arduous task entailing;

Vets UK side
Transport to Singapore - not the most popular route!
Quarantine in Singapore via the Turf Club
Import Duties
Stable in the polo club (limited)

Now they are here and fit it has rained constantly for 2 weeks so no polo!

Anyway hope to get playing soon and instigate the first Meyado tournament of '08 in Singapore
