Move Over Boys, the Ladies are Taking Over Saratoga Polo Women’s Week,

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – For the first time in the history of Saratoga Polo, an all-women’s tournament — the Veuve Clicquot Women’s Challenge held July 31 and August 2 — will showcase the skills and talents of some of the best female players in the world. Polo’s homage to women doesn’t stop on the field; the venue is also hosting a variety of special events for women including a champagne reception, jewelry preview and fashion show.

FINAL OF THE VEUVE CLICQUOT GOLD CUP FOR THE BRITISH OPEN POLO CHAMPIONSHIP AT COWDRAY PARK 19th JULY
Seventeen teams entered the 2009 Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup which saw French businessman Jean-Francois Decaux fulfil his dream of winning the most coveted trophy in polo with his team La Bamba de Areco in the Final of the British Open Polo Polo Championship on Sunday 19th July.
Decaux’s first entry in the Gold Cup, sponsored for fifteen years by leading champagne house Veuve Clicquot, was in 1998 with his team Buffalos. Four years ago he resumed the quest for the trophy with a new team ‘Brittany Polo Club’, but 2009 saw him change the name to La Bamba de Areco after his historic hacienda in Argentina. A new line-up with the 10 goal Argentine Pieres brothers Gonzalito and Facundo in the pivotal middle order finally saw his dream realised when they won the fabulous Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup 13-10.

Ohana / Tri Tech Hang Ten to Win Surf Cup at San Diego Polo Club by Tony Gregg
Rancho Santa Fe, CA (July 20, 2009) – By scoring ten goals and getting one via the handicap system, Kelly and Chris Maloney’s Ohana/Tri Tech group were able to win the San Diego Magazine Surf Cup over Krista Bonaguidi and Nourdean Anakar’s Hanalei Bay/Sorteo Games quartet by a score of 11- 10 at the San Diego Polo Club on Sunday afternoon.
