The Friesian (also Frisian) is a horse breed originating in Friesland.
Although the breed's conformation resembles that of a light draft horse, Friesians are graceful and nimble for their size.
During the Middle Ages, it is believed that the ancestors of Friesian horses were in great demand as war horses throughout continental Europe......http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=123269181066537&aid=24523
The Lipizzan or Lipizzaner (Slovene: Lipicanec, Croatian: Lipicanac), is a breed of horse closely associated with the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, Austria where the finest representatives demonstrate the haute ecole or "high school" movements of classical dressage, including the highly controlled, stylized jumps and other movements known as the "airs above the ground."
The Lipizzan breed dates back to the 16th century, when it was developed with the support of the Habsburg nobility. The breed takes its name from one of the earliest stud farms established, located near the Kras village of Lipica (spelled "Lipizza" in Italian), in modern-day Slovenia......http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=123269181066537&aid=24504

Horses are creatures of beauty. Beauty may be in the eyes of the beholder, but horses have inspired artists and poets through the ages.
I am awed by the sight of a herd of horses galloping through a field powerful, independent beasts but stunning to view.
They are living art forms that remind us of the natural wonders of the world.
All photos and images for member and friends around the world for viewing only.

Around the end of the 19th century other subjects began to be pictured on stamps, including horses.
"Tiny horse art" could be considered as stretching it a bit as a good gift idea. But if your horse lover also happens to be a stamp collector, or you're just a bit curious about the subject......
